The Greenville Choral Society is excited to announce that Dr. Andrew (Andy) Roby has been selected as the new Director for the GCS Concert Choir. Dr. Roby holds degrees from both Union University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and comes to us with a rich background of choral conducting in academic, church, and community settings. Dr. Roby is the current President of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA) and serves as the Minister of Music and Worship Arts at The Memorial Baptist Church in Greenville, NC. Dr. Roby is the proud father of two children who also hold degrees in Music and he resides in Greenville with his beloved wife Mary who is an Assistant Director in the Laupus Health Sciences Library at ECU. Noelle is a Senior at J.H. Rose High School in Greenville and she will be attending Belmont University in Tennessee to study Music Industry in the fall. Youth Chorale member, Caley S. will be attending the North Carolina Governor's School West for Choral Music at Salem College in Winston-Salem this summer. She was chosen based on academic performance, a solo audition of a 20th Century Art Song, and a rigorous musicianship test. Caley is a Sophomore at South Central High School in Winterville, NC and she has been a member of the Youth Chorale for the last two seasons. Caley also serves as the GCS Board of Directors Youth Chorale Representative. We are so very proud of you, Caley! The Greenville Choral Society Children's Chorus will be hosting the prestigious Piedmont Invitational Children's Choir Festival (PICCF) featuring seven of NC's best children's choirs on Saturday, 3/3 at The Memorial Baptist Church of Greenville. The students will work with clinician, Emily Williams Burch of the University of South Carolina on Friday and Saturday and will present a combined concert on Saturday afternoon that features each individual group as well as a mass choir made up of all of the choirs. While this is not GCS' first time participating in this great event, it is our first time hosting and we want to share it with the Greenville community!
