Youth Chorale
Paul Flowers and Dr. Andrea VanDeusen, Co-Conductors
The GCS Youth Chorale provides an opportunity for area youth in 9th through 12th grade (and changed middle school voices) to study and perform choral music at an advanced level. Experience singing in a choral ensemble is not required. As a member of the Youth Chorale, students learn vocal technique, music reading skills, and how to sing in a choral ensemble. The Youth Chorale rehearses on Sunday afternoons at The Memorial Baptist Church, Greenville from 2:30-4:00 PM and they perform one formal concert each semester and at area events such as ECU athletic events and at local churches. We welcome the opportunity to audition new singers each semester and we love gaining new members! Audition information is below. For more information, please email [email protected].

Auditions are very relaxed and you do not need to prepare anything! These are simply placement auditions for the conductor to find where your voice will fit in best within the ensemble. The audition will consist of the following components:
- Check each student's range (how high and how low students sing).
- Check for tonal memory (check to make sure students can sing back a pattern of notes).
- Ask each student to sing a familiar tune like, "My Country Tis of Thee" or "Happy Birthday."
